Chain Sheet is a set of files on one server. Opening a sheet fetches the page, the stylesheet and
the two typefaces it is set in, all of them from this domain, so loading a page here tells no other
host that you are reading. No cookie is set. Nothing is embedded from another site. No script runs
in your browser. What a visit leaves behind is one line in the web server's access log, and this
notice sets out what that line holds, how long it is held, and where to write about it.

## The one record a visit leaves

The server writes an access log, the same log every web server writes. A line in it holds the
network address the request came from, the moment it arrived, the address requested, the
response code, the number of bytes sent, the browser string the request carried, and the
referring page where a browser sends one. Nothing of ours is added to it: no reader number, no
identifier planted on a first visit and read back on the next.

Entries are kept for 14 days and then deleted with the file that holds them. They do two jobs —
keeping the site reachable, and telling a person reading a sheet from a script hammering the
server — and they are used for nothing else. The log is not sold, not shared for marketing, not
read to work out who a reader is, and not joined to any other set of records.

## What this site has no means to collect

This sheet has no input on it. Nothing here accepts a sign-up, a password, a wallet connection,
an email address or a comment, because none of those fields was ever built. The site is a set of
static files; there is no form for a reader to fill in and no store behind one.

Measurement is absent for the same reason. No property is configured, no tag manager loads, no
counter increments, and no measurement account is shared with another site — so nothing here can
be matched to a reader's movements elsewhere. The advertising apparatus is absent too: no pixel
fires, no remarketing tag loads, no click identifier is appended to an outgoing address, no
third-party cookie is set. That describes the tracking, not the commercial arrangement; the

## Links that leave this site

Venue documentation, terms of use, audit records and market data pages are cited as plain
addresses. The address printed is the address the link goes to; we add no tracking parameter to
it and send nobody through a redirector of ours. A link out is an ordinary link, followed or not
as the reader decides, and nothing on this side records the decision.

Past that point nothing here applies. A venue's documents sit on the venue's own site, under its
privacy policy and its cookies, and opening one tells that operator whatever any visit tells a
site it lands on. Following a citation is how a figure on a sheet gets checked, which is why the
links are there, but it is a step the reader takes.

## Questions about data

Questions about any of this go to sheet@echoblock.org, the address that takes
corrections. A message and the address it came from are kept while the question is open, and,
where the answer changed a figure on a sheet, alongside the record of that change; ask for
either to be deleted and it is deleted.

If you want to know what is held about your own reading, the honest answer is the access log and
only for as long as it lasts. Write within the 14 days with the day you read and the network
address you read from, and the lines can be found, shown to you, or removed.
